This role is in the Aruba networking business of HPE, based in Bengaluru on a hybrid basis (about 2 days a week in the office). The engineer works as first-line technical support for customers using Aruba enterprise switches running AOS-CX and AOS-S. Daily work involves taking cases by phone, web and email, judging severity, troubleshooting basic Layer 2 and Layer 3 problems and collecting logs. Cases that need deeper work are passed to L2/L3 teams with clear documentation. It suits someone with solid networking fundamentals and good customer communication skills.

What you'll do

  • Act as first point of technical contact for Aruba switching customers via phone, web and email
  • Create, prioritize and manage cases in HPE case management systems and set severity (Sev 1-4)
  • Troubleshoot switching issues such as VLANs, trunking, STP, PoE, interface errors, boot and image upgrade problems
  • Collect and validate show tech, logs and interface outputs, following standard runbooks
  • Escalate structured cases to L2/L3 TAC with steps, logs, topology and customer impact
  • Use and contribute to the HPE Knowledge Base and join enablement sessions

What you need

  • Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, OSI model, subnetting and IP addressing
  • Understanding of VLANs, access vs trunk ports, STP and basic routing
  • Basic Aruba AOS-CX and AOS-S CLI skills, including interface, VLAN and PoE configuration
  • Basic Linux and Windows troubleshooting, and CLI access via SSH/Telnet/Console
  • Ability to read logs and use case management tools such as ServiceNow
  • Strong customer communication and ability to work in high-severity outage situations
