About this role

Citi is hiring a Software Development Engineer (C10, Applications Development Analyst) for its India services entity to work on backend services, data pipelines and microservices behind enterprise platforms. The developer works in an Agile team across the full software lifecycle, from requirement analysis and coding to automated testing, code reviews and production support. Both Java (Spring Boot) and Python (FastAPI, Flask or Django) are used, along with REST APIs, messaging systems, Docker and CI/CD pipelines. It suits developers with roughly 2-4 years of professional experience in both languages.

What you'll do

  • Develop and enhance backend applications in Java (Spring Boot) and Python
  • Build RESTful APIs, microservices and event-driven integrations using tools like Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • Write automated unit, integration and component tests and resolve static analysis findings
  • Integrate applications with CI/CD pipelines and containerize services with Docker for Kubernetes/OpenShift deployments
  • Take part in Agile ceremonies, peer code reviews and technical documentation
  • Assist with root cause analysis and fixes for Level 3 production issues and monitor application health

What you need

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • About 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience with both Python and Java
  • Strong Python 3.x and solid Java 11/17+ with the Spring ecosystem
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, relational databases and SQL, and version control (Git)
  • Basic understanding of Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift and cloud fundamentals
  • Analytical problem solving and clear written and verbal communication
