Software Engineer, Backend
About this role
Toddle runs an AI-powered teaching and learning platform used by K-12 schools, covering curriculum planning, assessments, portfolios, reports and family communication. This backend engineer role is a product engineering position on that platform, working with engineers, product managers, designers and educators. Day to day it involves building backend features in Node.js, GraphQL and PostgreSQL, fixing production issues and optimizing queries. Over the first year the engineer moves toward owning backend modules end to end. It suits an engineer with 1 to 3 years of experience, ideally from a SaaS background, who writes clean code and likes learning. The role is remote within India.

What you'll do
- Build and ship backend features for the teaching and learning platform
- Fix production issues and optimize database queries
- Write scripts for analytics and database migrations
- Take part in code reviews and work with Engineering, QA and Product
- Own backend modules from scoping and design through release and post-release support
What you need
- B.E/B.Tech degree
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience (SaaS preferred)
- Node.js, Express, GraphQL and PostgreSQL
- Git, Knex and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot
- Experience with scripting and data analysis tasks
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to write maintainable, scalable code
