About this role

Abnormal AI builds an AI-native cybersecurity platform that protects large enterprises from email and other attacks. The Platform & Infrastructure team owns the core systems behind all its products, including cloud infrastructure, data platforms, observability and development tooling. In this hybrid Bangalore role, the engineer builds and maintains backend services, infrastructure tooling and data pipelines, and works to keep systems that handle billions of events daily fast and reliable. AI coding tools such as Cursor and Copilot are part of everyday development. It suits engineers with some backend experience in Python who want to learn distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.

What you'll do

  • Use AI tools such as Cursor and Copilot to speed up development and automate workflows
  • Design and maintain core backend services, infrastructure tooling and data pipelines
  • Improve performance and resilience of systems handling billions of events daily
  • Work with Detection, Data Platform and Product Engineering teams on integration
  • Build automated monitoring, alerting and logging for system health

What you need

  • 2+ years of experience as a software engineer with strong coding and problem-solving foundations
  • Hands-on backend development in Python, with exposure to cloud-native environments
  • Solid understanding of databases, REST APIs and data pipelines
  • Familiarity with LLMs and AI development tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot or Claude
  • Curiosity about distributed systems, orchestration and cloud infrastructure
  • Nice to have: Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, or interest in data platforms and infrastructure-as-code
