About this role

Avoca builds AI-powered conversational agents that answer inbound calls for home service companies, booking jobs and qualifying leads. This Software Engineer role is on the Bengaluru product engineering team, where everything built is customer-facing. The engineer builds backend services, APIs and AI-powered features, owns them end to end with help from senior engineers, and ships quickly. Work includes LLM-based workflows, integrations with CRM and scheduling tools, testing, monitoring and on-call duty. The role is hybrid, with some overlap with US hours, and suits a self-driven engineer with startup experience.

What you'll do

  • Build and ship features end to end, from backend services to customer-facing interfaces
  • Work on AI-powered workflows including prompt design, evaluation and making LLMs reliable in production
  • Build integrations with CRM systems, scheduling platforms and communication tools
  • Fix customer problems quickly and write tests and monitoring for shipped work
  • Join on-call rotation and incident response
  • Collaborate with Product, Design and Customer Success and take part in code reviews

What you need

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience, ideally full-stack, including at least 1 year in a startup or growth-stage environment
  • Strong JavaScript/TypeScript and Python skills with backend experience
  • Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP and modern deployment practices
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and working with SQL databases at scale
  • Self-driven and comfortable with ambiguity; curiosity about AI and LLMs
