About this role
Gartner is a research and advisory company that provides business and technology insights to enterprise leaders. This role is in its Insights & Product Analytics team in Gurgaon. The Associate Data Scientist works on data science projects that turn large volumes of structured and unstructured data into insights and recommendations. Much of the work involves text analytics, NLP, machine learning and generative AI, including retrieval and evaluation of LLM-based solutions. The work is fast-paced with tight turnaround times and involves close collaboration with stakeholders. It suits someone with 1-3 years of data science or ML experience and strong Python skills.

What you'll do
- Execute large-scale data science projects that extract, interpret and visualise insights from structured and unstructured data
- Design, develop and deliver solutions using machine learning, deep learning and generative AI together with stakeholders
- Build text analytics and knowledge retrieval capabilities for large-scale unstructured data
- Define standards for evaluation, guardrails, prompt engineering, retrieval quality and hallucination control
- Follow best practices in documentation, code reuse and model lifecycle management
- Apply responsible AI practices covering data privacy, IP, safety and auditability
What you need
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field, with a focus on AI/Data Science
- 1-3 years of experience in data science, AI or ML roles
- Advanced Python with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, SpaCy and NLTK
- Experience with NLP, LLMs, LLM customisation (RAG, tuning, advanced prompting), embeddings and vector databases such as FAISS or pgvector
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure or GCP, and familiarity with Spark/Databricks
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
