About this role
IBM's India Systems Development Lab is part of the global IBM Systems division, which builds servers, storage and systems software for enterprise infrastructure. The entry-level Software Engineer role covers design, development, test and support of products across operating systems, firmware, systems software, storage and cloud software. Day to day, engineers analyse product requirements, design and code solutions, and test them across the product life cycle while working with development and product management teams in different geographies. Teams listed include Systems and Cloud Software, AI on Z, Spectrum Fusion, Linux, HMC/Novalink, AIX, Performance, Firmware and Enterprise System Design (processor verification, validation and EDA tools). It suits Computer Science and engineering graduates with strong programming skills who want to work on core systems technology.

What you'll do
- Analyse product requirements and decide the best design approach
- Code, test and support IBM Systems products across the development life cycle
- Design enhancements, fix bugs, and do problem determination and performance analysis
- Work with development and product management teams and end users across geographies
- Contribute to open source and closed source communities in areas such as Linux, OpenBMC and cloud software
What you need
- Bachelor's degree
- Strong programming skills in languages such as C, C++, Go, Python, Java, depending on team
- Knowledge of operating systems, Kubernetes, containers, cloud concepts and REST APIs for Systems and Cloud roles
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub and open source tools
- AI team: understanding of ML/DL frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow and PyTorch, plus Linux
- Spectrum Fusion team: experience with Java, Python, GoLang or ReactJS, and cloud platforms such as OpenShift, Kubernetes/Docker
