Software Development Engineer II

This role sits in JioStar's Prism group, on the International team behind the JioHotstar streaming platform. The team builds backend services for authentication, subscriptions, payments and content delivery, and supports region-specific features across markets like the UK, Singapore and Canada. Day to day, the engineer builds and runs scalable microservices, works with product managers, and joins architecture discussions. The job is onsite in Bengaluru and suits backend engineers with a few years of experience who want ownership of high-scale systems.

What you'll do

  • Build secure, scalable microservices for JioStar applications
  • Write clean, maintainable code, with unit tests and code reviews
  • Keep server response times under a second and choose suitable data stores and messaging systems
  • Own the running and maintenance of cloud infrastructure
  • Work with product managers and cross-functional teams to turn requirements into software
  • Mentor junior engineers and interns

What you need

  • Proficiency in Java, Golang or Python
  • Experience building distributed, domain-driven microservices
  • Strong understanding of database and storage fundamentals
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), Kafka and CI/CD pipelines
  • Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or a related field, with 2-4 years of backend development experience (preferred)
  • Ability to turn ambiguous product requirements into scalable technical solutions
