About this role

PhonePe is an Indian technology company behind a digital payments app, with products across consumer payments, merchant payments, lending, insurance distribution, Share.Market and Indus Appstore. This Business Analyst role sits in the Analytics department and supports the Merchant business. The analyst works with a pod of business and product teams to define key metrics, track performance and turn business problems into analytical questions. Day to day it involves deep analysis, presenting evidence-backed insights, and building dashboards the team can use easily. It suits curious, data-minded people with at least a year of analytics experience who enjoy owning problems end to end.

What you'll do

  • Define critical metrics for the pod and monitor performance trends
  • Work with business and product teams to turn business problems into analytical problem statements
  • Own insight generation with in-depth analysis and present evidence-backed, data-driven findings
  • Suggest ideas to improve the pod's key metrics and test them against data
  • Act as the analytics and visualization expert, designing dashboards that are easy for the pod to use

What you need

  • Minimum 1 year of analytics experience in relevant roles
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries to combine multiple data sources for dashboards and analysis
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau or QlikView
  • Understanding of R or Python and core statistical concepts; ML model experience is good to have but not mandatory
  • Clear verbal and written communication, including explaining the story behind an analysis
