• Check the market before you reply

Look up fresher pay for that company and city so your ask has a reason. Compare the range with your offer and note the CTC vs in-hand difference.

  • Say thanks first, then ask

Reply in writing, stay warm, and ask one clear question with a number.

Thank you for the offer, I'm excited to join [Company]. Based on my skills and market range for this role, is there room to revisit the fixed pay to ₹X LPA?
  • Ask for the full breakup

A higher CTC can hide a low fixed pay. Ask about fixed vs variable, monthly in-hand salary, joining bonus clawback and any service bond.

    1. What is the fixed vs variable split?
    2. Is the joining bonus clawed back if I leave early?
    3. What is the monthly in-hand salary?
    4. Is there a service agreement or bond?
  • Negotiate more than salary

If base pay is fixed for all freshers, ask about other terms. Not every company will agree, but asking once politely is normal.

    Joining bonus
    Earlier salary review (6 months)
    Remote or hybrid days
    Joining date flexibility
    Learning budget or certifications
  • Get it in writing before you quit

Treat the offer as final only when you have the revised letter. Do not reject other offers or resign on a verbal yes. No genuine employer asks for a fee for an offer or joining.

Could you please share the revised offer letter with the updated terms? I'll confirm acceptance right after.
