About this role

This is a roughly 6-month internship in the In-Service Engineering department at Airbus India in Bengaluru, ideally starting in January 2027 (start date flexible). The work focuses on improving language model capabilities, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation, fine-tuning and quantization. The intern assists with data preparation, training small transformer models and building an internal LLM orchestration framework alongside senior engineers. What you'll do

  • Research and implement RAG and other advanced techniques to improve language model capabilities
  • Prepare data for fine-tuning
  • Help set up and optimise the fine-tuning and quantization pipeline
  • Participate in training small transformer models
  • Contribute to an internal LLM orchestration framework and integrate LLM components with senior engineers
  • Support model deployment and monitoring, and document processes and findings

What you need

  • Strong Python skills
  • Experience with data wrangling and preprocessing
  • Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex and vector databases
  • Understanding of transformer architecture, embeddings and tokenizers
  • Experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
  • Proficiency in Git and software development best practices
