The Network Operations Systems Group at Akamai builds software used to deploy and maintain Akamai's global network, which carries over 20% of the world's web traffic. The team creates distributed systems with web and console interfaces that help network infrastructure, operations and engineering teams work faster and more reliably. As a Software Engineer you will design and build high-availability systems, working on services for automation, observability and identity management. The role covers the full product life cycle and involves collaboration with international, cross-functional teams. It is based in Bengaluru with remote work in India, and suits developers with early experience in Python, Go or shell scripting on Linux.

What you'll do

  • Analyze, design and implement high availability systems software
  • Bring new functionality to services focused on automation, observability and identity management
  • Support the full product life cycle from ideation to implementation and operation
  • Improve how software systems are tested, deployed, monitored and maintained
  • Mentor less experienced engineers to ensure quality solutions
  • Evaluate emerging trends and technologies in network operations and automation

What you need

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • At least 0.6 years of programming experience in Python, Go and/or shell script
  • At least 0.6 years of development experience on Linux/Unix platforms
  • Knowledge of internet protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS and/or TLS/SSL
  • Experience with git/Stash and Perforce version control systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication and good teamwork
