athenahealth's Collector R&D teams build services that manage large volumes of healthcare claim resolution work for customers, internal teams and BPO vendors. This Member of Technical Staff role in Chennai (hybrid) develops backend services and microservices in Java on AWS. Day to day it involves building APIs, troubleshooting service issues, taking part in code reviews and testing, and working with engineers and product partners. It suits engineers with a few years of backend experience.

What you'll do
- Develop backend applications and services in Java
- Build and maintain scalable microservices and APIs
- Implement cloud-based solutions on AWS
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to turn requirements into technical solutions
- Troubleshoot issues and fix root causes
- Contribute to code reviews, unit testing, documentation and release support
What you need
- 2 to 4 years of software engineering experience in backend or distributed systems
- Hands-on Java experience
- Experience with microservices and RESTful APIs
- Working knowledge of AWS
- Understanding of OOP, testing, debugging and version control
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field, or equivalent experience
