Software Engineer – Kubernetes & Cloud Optimization

About this role

Flexera builds SaaS products that help organizations optimize technology and cloud spend. This engineer joins the Rightsizing team, which creates cloud-native features that improve Kubernetes resource use and cut infrastructure costs. The work is hands-on product development: backend services and APIs that talk to Kubernetes clusters, recommendation engines, autoscaling integrations and GPU optimization. The engineer also writes tests, contributes to CI/CD and takes part in operational support rotations. It suits a developer with 2-4 years of experience, including solid Kubernetes development work.

What you'll do

  • Design and develop backend services and microservices for Kubernetes workload optimization and rightsizing
  • Build recommendation engines for CPU, memory, storage and workload optimization
  • Work with Kubernetes APIs, controllers, operators and CRDs, and integrate with EKS, AKS and GKE
  • Enhance integrations with autoscaling frameworks such as HPA and KEDA
  • Write clean, tested code and automated unit, integration and performance tests
  • Troubleshoot production issues and take part in operational support rotations

What you need

  • 2-4 years of software development experience, with 2+ years of hands-on Kubernetes development
  • Strong coding in Java or Python, with data structures and algorithms knowledge
  • Experience building APIs, distributed systems and microservices
  • Strong Kubernetes understanding, including pods, deployments, RBAC, HPA and Kubernetes APIs
  • AWS experience required; Azure and GCP are a plus
  • Familiarity with Docker, Helm, Git, CI/CD tools and Terraform
