Application Support Engineer (L1)

About this role

Lepton Software builds GIS-based applications, and this L1 support role covers those applications at customer sites in Mumbai. The engineer takes issues directly from customers and users, troubleshoots them and works towards a resolution. Day to day this means checking application and server logs, handing issues to L2 and L3 teams and tracking their status, and keeping SLAs and operational processes on track. The role also covers incident, change and release management, application deployment, and support during outages or enhancements. It suits someone with 2-4 years of experience in GIS application support who is open to rotational 24x7 shifts.

What you'll do

  • Provide technical support to users of GIS-based applications at customer premises
  • Evaluate, troubleshoot and resolve issues raised directly by customers and users
  • Coordinate with L2 and L3 teams on the status of escalated issues
  • Follow operational processes and SLAs, and carry out incident, change and release management
  • Check server, OS and application logs, and deploy and configure the application on server or cloud
  • Support the application during outages, degradation or enhancements, and confirm data feeds load correctly

What you need

  • 2-4 years of experience
  • Technical knowledge of a GIS application such as Smart Inventory or Network Engineer (NE)
  • Server/OS knowledge to access servers and check OS and application logs
  • SQL database knowledge (Oracle, PostgreSQL or similar)
  • Knowledge of application integration and the complete data flow in the system
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and readiness for rotational 24x7 shifts
  • ITIL certification preferred
