About this role

Mastercard's Global Risk and Compliance group runs transaction monitoring for anti-money laundering and regulatory compliance, and is introducing an AI-based solution to expand that monitoring. The Data Scientist I builds generative AI models and applications for these AML use cases. Day to day, the work covers RAG and tool-calling workflows, LLM fine-tuning pipelines, evaluation and monitoring of GenAI systems, and deploying models on cloud platforms. It suits a computer science graduate with Python and AI/ML framework skills who wants to apply generative AI in a compliance setting. The posting is based in Pune.

What you'll do

  • Implement generative AI models and applications for AML transaction monitoring
  • Build solutions using RAG, Model Context Protocol, tool calling and LangChain/LangGraph
  • Develop ML pipelines for fine-tuning LLMs and other foundation models
  • Build evaluation frameworks for GenAI, including hallucination detection, bias checks and quality scoring
  • Set up observability for AI systems covering latency, cost and model performance
  • Integrate AI models into production systems on AWS or Azure, with attention to security and compliance

What you need

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of building and deploying generative AI solutions (LLMs, diffusion models, transformers)
  • Proficiency in Python and PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Expertise in RAG pipelines, MCP integrations, tool calling and LangChain/LangGraph
  • Exposure to MLOps, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and Databricks
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills
