Cyber Security Engineer
About this role
Wabtec is a global provider of equipment, systems and digital services for freight and transit rail, mining, marine and industrial markets. This role is in its Enterprise Information Security team, which works with Security Operations, GRC and IT stakeholders. The engineer helps design, run and improve protections for email, data and endpoints, mainly using Microsoft Defender and Purview tools. Work includes analysing threat trends, taking part in round-the-clock incident monitoring and response, and writing technical standards and playbooks. It suits someone with a cybersecurity background who can stay calm during incidents and is comfortable with off-hours work when needed.

What you'll do
- Assist with Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Purview, including architecture, design and control decisions
- Analyse threat trends, security telemetry and control performance to tune email, endpoint and data protection
- Take part in 24/7/365 incident monitoring, detection and response with internal teams and an MSSP
- Collaborate with response, intelligence, identity, IT and business teams
- Develop and maintain technical standards, reference architectures and playbooks
What you need
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field, or a minimum of 2 years of experience in cybersecurity
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills, staying calm during high-pressure security incidents
- Excellent communication skills to manage joint response and remediation efforts
- Experience developing technical documentation
- Willingness to work weekends or off-shift hours as needed during incidents
