Analytics Engineer

About this role

This Analytics Engineer role is in Zillow's Data Science, Analytics and Engineering team, based in Bengaluru. The person builds and owns the data models and metric definitions that stakeholders use for consumer analytics such as marketing, lead generation and site traffic. Work involves writing transformation code in SQL and dbt, adding data-quality tests and documenting the output. It includes working directly with US-based analysts, data scientists and stakeholders across a large time-zone gap. It is an office-based role, with about 80 to 100 percent of time at the Zillow India office.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain dimensional data models and metric definitions using SQL and dbt or equivalent
  • Design data-quality tests, monitoring and alerting for data products
  • Partner with data engineering to define upstream requirements and fix data-quality issues at the source
  • Work with US-based BI analysts, data scientists and stakeholders to understand their needs
  • Contribute to semantic layer definitions usable by BI tools, data scientists and AI systems

What you need

  • 2+ years of professional data experience; metrics-as-code and semantic modelling preferred
  • Strong SQL, including grain, joins and schema evolution in relational modeling
  • Experience with dbt or an equivalent transformation framework, plus Git and CI/CD basics
  • Comfort working across a large time-zone gap with proactive asynchronous communication
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake or similar) and BI tools (Tableau, Looker or similar)
  • Must live within commuting distance of the Zillow India office
