About this role

GoKwik is an eCommerce enablement company serving D2C brands with checkout, payments and retention tools. This full-time Data Engineer I role in Gurugram builds and maintains the data pipelines behind analytics, machine learning models and merchant-facing products. The stack includes Apache Iceberg, Trino, Spark and Kubernetes. Day to day the engineer ensures data correctness, tunes query performance and cost, and investigates production issues. It suits people with 1-3 years of data pipeline experience; strong internships and projects may be considered at entry level.

What you'll do

  • Design, build and maintain data pipelines using SQL, Python, Trino and Spark
  • Implement data quality checks, validation, deduplication and monitoring
  • Optimise SQL queries and distributed jobs for performance and cost
  • Investigate production issues and do root-cause analysis with engineering, analytics and data science teams
  • Contribute to platform work involving Kubernetes, GitOps and cloud infrastructure
  • Use AI-assisted tools while validating generated code and queries

What you need

  • 1-3 years of experience building data pipelines or data platforms; strong internships and projects may be considered at entry level
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to debug queries and data discrepancies
  • Solid Python skills; PySpark is an advantage
  • Hands-on experience with a distributed processing or query engine such as Spark, Trino or Hive
  • Understanding of data warehousing and lakehouse fundamentals, including partitioning, incremental loads and data modelling
  • Comfortable writing tests and taking part in code reviews
