About this role
This role sits in the Meta/SEM Bidding Programs team in Expedia Group's marketing organisation, which builds the large-scale data and machine learning systems behind its bidding programs. The engineer writes production-grade software and works with ML engineers to turn experimental model workflows into reliable pipelines, services and platform components. Day to day it covers coding, testing, deployment and production support for batch and streaming data and inference workflows. It also includes instrumenting systems for metrics, joining code reviews and on-call rotations, and using AI tools in development. It suits engineers in Bangalore with about 2 years of backend or data-intensive experience who want to grow toward ML engineering.

What you'll do
- Implement and enhance software and data components in business-critical services, from design input through testing, deployment and production support
- Build and maintain data pipelines, services and infrastructure for model training, evaluation and serving
- Contribute to batch and streaming data and inference workflows
- Instrument systems to capture latency, throughput, error and business metrics, and help resolve production issues
- Take part in code reviews, on-call rotations and incident response
- Use AI tools and generative AI/LLM techniques in the development lifecycle
What you need
- 2+ years of professional experience building and shipping production software, ideally data-intensive or backend services
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Strong Python and experience building APIs and services (FastAPI, REST)
- Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, testing and version control
- Experience with distributed systems and cloud services on AWS, and with Kubernetes
- Working knowledge of Go and Spark (Scala/PySpark) or similar big data frameworks
- Hands-on use of AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code
