The engineer builds backend services, agents that follow business procedures, tool servers, approval flows and evaluations. It also includes production support and on-call triage. It suits backend engineers with 2-5 years of experience who have shipped an LLM-powered feature.

What you'll do

  • Build and run backend services that receive events, track cases and decide when agents run
  • Own platform correctness: idempotency, deduplication, locking, crash recovery and audit trails
  • Build and evolve agents that follow business SOPs, and MCP tool servers with clear schemas
  • Integrate human approval flows, including signed callbacks, rejection and expiry
  • Write evals and add tracing, metrics and logs, and track model cost per case
  • Support production, including on-call triage, and work across teams in Python or Ruby on Rails when needed

What you need

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 2-5 years of professional backend software engineering experience
  • TypeScript plus Python, or TypeScript plus Ruby on Rails, with 1+ year of production experience in TypeScript (or either language for the Rails route)
  • Experience designing APIs and webhooks, including authentication and signature verification
  • Substantial contribution to a production LLM feature (tool calling, structured outputs, measurement)
  • Comfort with AWS (ECS or containers, S3, IAM) and Docker, plus production support experience
